(SAN FRANCISCO) April 9, 2008 – Heller Ehrman has announced that M. Patricia Thayer has been named to The Daily Journal’s inaugural list of the “Top 50 IP Litigators in California.” Annette Hurst has been named to The Daily Journal’s list of “Top 10 Trademark Lawyers.” Hurst and Thayer are members of Heller Ehrman’s Intellectual Property Litigation Practice.
Heller Ehrman was one of only a few firms to have three or more lawyers on the Top 50 list, which appears in the April 9 issue of The Daily Journal, a daily newspaper that covers law firms in California. Selections were based on nominations of California-based attorneys who work for law firms, corporations, non-profits or universities.
“One of the many qualities that sets our IP Litigation Practice apart is that, in addition to having talented lawyers, we have been successful representing companies from a wide range of business and technology sectors,” said Heller Ehrman Chairman Matt Larrabee. “Each of the four lawyers who were recognized by The Daily Journal has demonstrated the ability to apply legal expertise to resolve IP disputes, from early-stage negotiation through trial and appeal.”
Heller Ehrman’s Intellectual Property Litigation Practice consists of more than 80 IP litigators. The firm’s IP clients include industry leaders such as Allergan, Apple, CA, Depomed, Genentech, Mylan Pharmaceuticals, Palm, Symantec, Texas Instruments, Visa and Yahoo!
Annette Hurst joined the firm in 2005 and she is based in the firm’s San Francisco office. Her practice focuses on copyright, trademark and trade secret litigation before federal and state courts in California, New York and several other jurisdictions. Her litigation skills encompass all phases of legal and factual analysis and investigation, discovery, expert discovery, trial preparation, jury and bench trials, alternative dispute resolution and settlement negotiation.
M. Patricia Thayer joined the firm in 1999 and she is Co-Chair of Heller Ehrman’s Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Group. She is based in the firm’s San Francisco office. Thayer focuses on complex patent litigation for life sciences companies, including biopharmaceuticals, diagnostics, drug delivery systems and medical devices. She has also represented hardware and software clients in patent litigation and assisted a wide range of life sciences, Internet and retail companies in litigation and arbitration involving trademark, trade secret and copyright disputes.
