We opened our Silicon Valley office in 1983 and have represented some of the most successful start-up companies in this world center of technology and venture capital. A significant portion of the practice in our Silicon Valley office relates to emerging and established high technology and life sciences companies. Many clients are industry leaders in computer hardware and software, semiconductors, lasers, Internet products and services, telecommunications and specialized industrial products. Our extensive life sciences practice includes work for some of the industry's most prominent biotechnology and medical device companies. In 2003, Heller Ehrman merged with Venture Law Group, one of the preeminent emerging company law firms in the world. The addition of almost 60 lawyers from Venture Law Group gave our Silicon Valley presence significant and focused experience in launching successful startups here in the center of venture capital.
